Task 1 Audience research
In our group we have discussed a few ideas of what we
want to see for our final results
We are
expecting the digipak to look professional, colourful (for example bright
colours reds, yellows, pinks, etc.) and just all around attractive to the
target audience (teenage/young girls). We would like the digipak to show our
genre and our band. We have chosen Mcfly to be our band, the genre is a mix of pop,
rock and punk. However through the years the band has changed a little they
wear suits instead of punk/rock band clothing and there music is laid back so
there songs are simple. With the change of the band instead of using bright
colours we could use more calm colours(for example browns and blues etc.) than
all in your face, we could use colours from the video ‘love is easy’ this is our chosen song. We
would like the digipak to have lyrics, pictures of the band, information about
the band and also touring dates or gigs information as well.
In our group
we all have a limited supply of money to buy a cd for example around £10 each yes this seems like a lot of money
but cd’s are very expensive.
When we did a questionnaire most young people don’t have a
lot of money to buy cd’s. So instead they just listen to them on youtube, or
buy music online for cheaper prices such as itunes.
We researched our band on the internet and as we know that
certain website such as wiki people can edit it and ad their own information
about the band which isn’t reliable, but as a group we watched videos of Mcfly
to see what they used to wear and what has changed throughout the years, we
tried to search for the latest’s songs released by the band but it wasn’t very
successful.
Strengths and shortcomings of our
methodology
Questionnaire
Strengths
·
Can find out what people really think and it also
being anonymous
·
Not entirely confusing
·
It’s a quicker way of finding out what the target
audience wants
·
It can be done at a short amount of time as it dosnt
take long
Weaknesses
·
People don’t answer the questions right
·
People don’t answer some questions
·
People lying about what they put down
·
The questions
might be answered bias
Focus groups
Strengths
·
it’s a lot easier and quicker to get the questionnaire
done
·
you immediately get a knowing of what the target
audience wants
Weaknesses
·
they might just copy other peoples answers if they
have no effort to do it themselves
·
if they talk to one another they might be influenced
by others peoples thoughts
If we was to do this again we would give more options to
answer the question and also make some of the questions more simple as they
didn’t understand some of the questions that was given, I would still give the
questionnaire to the focus group as it was quicker and easier to do.
A good start to sharing your ideas. Can you please upload images of your own work and research to support what you are saying?
